CASE STUDIES
RECRUITING FOR SCHOOLS
DUBAI
TEACHER OF CHEMISTRY
BACKGROUND

A British curriculum school in Dubai required an experienced, qualified Chemistry teacher, capable of teaching across the ability range from Years 8 to 11. The school placed a high value on the co-curricular life of the school, and so an inspiring and passionate teacher with a drive to create and oversee extracurricular activities was essential.

OUTCOME

After speaking with the heads of Chemistry and HR, Witherow Brooke drew up a job specification, which formed the basis of the headhunting, to identify a suitable long-list of candidates for the position. These candidates were interviewed by WB, and provided sample lessons and lesson plans as well as written answers to bespoke questions designed to assess their compatibility with the school and its culture. A short-list was then presented to the school with two candidates selected to fly out to Dubai for trial lessons, from which a final candidate was hired to the position.
